New Enabling Law
The Dominican Republic has successfully operated Free Trade Zones for manufacturing industries for many years. Recognising the advantages that this kind of legislation presents both to international businesses and to the national economy of the Dominican Republic, the Congress of the D.R. is considering a new Enabling Law during the second quarter of 2008. This law is intended to extend relevant capabilities to international financial institutions, purposed to their specific operational requirements.
Independent Regulation
The Centre will operate under the new Enabling Law, with its own independent regulatory framework and adjudication process. It will be led by globally renowned regulators, free from political and commercial influence.
